AshleyCarter Design Consultants has created the identity for Chinawhite, a new London private members club and restaurant in the basement of Café Royal.
Freelance designer Cara Satmoko worked up the interiors for the building on London’s Regent Street, which houses a lounge, a bar and a nightclub.
Satmoko and AshleyCarter worked together with the client on the design strategy for the club, which opens on 28 January. The interiors and restaurant menu have a Far Eastern influence. AshleyCarter will also be creating all the club’s literature.
“We’re aiming for a relaxed atmosphere which is not too posey and where people can have fun. All aspects of the design fit in with that. One area, for example, has a mattress and cushions on the floor,” says a Chinawhite spokeswoman.
The Chinawhite name was created by the client and refers to the company as well as the club and restaurant. Chinawhite is a start-up company.
The Chinawhite spokeswoman says the company plans to open other restaurants. However, these will not be based on the Chinawhite format.
