Candle store to roll out a new format

Specialist candle retailer Wax Lyrical is planning to roll out a store format, created by independent designer Rob Davis-Desmond, which it has been trialling in two sites since last September.

The stores, in the Braehead and Oracle shopping centres, have traded ahead of predictions. A further seven sites have now been earmarked for conversion, with the possibility of a wider rollout later. The chain has 50 UK stores, of which 20 could be converted in 12 months, says Davis-Desmond.

The format may also be extended to mainland Europe, where the chain is keen to establish a foothold. Apart from its UK stores, the chain does currently have franchised units in Ireland and the Middle East.

Davis-Desmond has also worked with Wax Lyrical on the development of new product ranges and related packaging.
