Finalists for Liverpool Awards

A shortlist of 39 design projects have been chosen as finalists for the Liverpool Design Awards 2000, organised by the Liverpool and Manchester Design Initiative. More than 100 entries were submitted, from 40 Merseyside companies.

Projects were selected by a judging panel, including London-based David Slater, creative director at Saatchi and Saatchi Design, Rasshied Din, founder of Din Associates, Tom Roope of Tomato Interactive and Design Week editor Lynda Relph-Knight.

Shortlisted consultancies include Splinter, which is under consideration for eight of the 13 categories, including best corporate identity, best furniture design, best interior design, best multimedia design and best newcomer.

Rival groups include Union North, shortlisted in three categories, and Nonconform, shortlisted in five. Webshed, Urban Splash and Plastic have also been shortlisted.

Winners will be announced at an awards dinner on 31 March.
