Nationwide utility provider PowerGen is close to relaunching its corporate identity through Enterprise IG, according to reports this week that were denied by the utility company.
Enterprise IG has been working with the group for the past six months on a preliminary analysis, looking at its corporate identity and positioning. Consultancy staff, however, decline to comment on any involvement.
A PowerGen spokeswoman plays down the importance of the project, while acknowledging that the branding group is working with PowerGen.
“We bought East Midlands Electricity and rebranded its retail operation last July. Since then, with Enterprise IG, we have been making sure that their branding is relevant. We are not about to launch a major corporate identity,” says the spokeswoman.
She explains that the work with Enterprise IG is being discussed internally at the moment and may not be forthcoming for some months because nothing has been signed off by the group’s board of directors.
“We may need to make some changes here and there… but we haven’t taken a decision to change anything,” she says.
Emphasising talks with Enterprise IG are still in the exploratory stage, the spokeswoman adds that if PowerGen was to unveil a new identity programme it would be a gradual activity, with little corporate drama.
