Come to Design Week’s panel talks at London Design Festival 2017
Design Week deputy editor Sarah Dawood will chair two panel discussions at Designjunction, featuring panellists including The Dots founder Pip Jamieson and Design Council CEO Sarah Weir.
Design Week will host two exciting panel discussions as part of this year’s London Design Festival.
The two panel talks will take place on Friday 22 September and will be chaired by deputy editor Sarah Dawood, as part of 2017’s Designjunction programme.
The first will focus on education, looking at the importance of integrating creative subjects into school curriculums from a young age.
Panellists include Pip Jamieson, founder at creative networking platform and jobs site The Dots; Sorrel Hershberg, director at The Saturday Club Trust, which offers creative clubs for 13-16-year-olds across the UK; Daniel Charny, director at award-winning education programme Fixperts; and Matias Shortcook, associate dean of pre-degree at Plymouth College of Art.
The second discussion will look at accessibility of design, and how people from all backgrounds can break into an industry rife with unpaid internships, free pitching and nepotism.
Panellists include Sarah Weir, CEO at the Design Council; Joe McCullagh, head of design at Manchester School of Art; Jack Renwick, illustrious graphic designer and creative director at Jack Renwick Studio; and Pali Palavathanan, creative director at studio Templo, who has over 10 years experience focusing on “creativity for change”.
The talks take place at 1pm and 3pm on Friday 22 September, lasting 50 minutes each, at Stanley Building, 1 Pancras Road, King’s Cross, London N1C 4AG.
