Puffed up job titles only the bearer understands

New appointments might not be abundant in the design industry at the moment, but new job titles seem to be taking the industry by storm.

We think that it all started with Michael Wolff as head of imagination at The Fourth Room and it seems a new fad has taken hold. Last week we noticed that Shan Preddy of the Preddy Consultancy is calling herself management, marketing and training warrior. And this week we hear that WPP Group is appointing Beth Axelrod as chief talent officer. My my, such grandiose titles, but what exactly do they mean?

Let’s get real. There must be a few old battleaxes out there, or perhaps a few jobs-worths, or even lazy bastards.

Now those are titles worth seeing on a business card.
