CERAMICS

Work by potter Bernard Leach has been gathered from both UK and Japanese collections. Leach believed that the West represented mechanisation and modernity, while the East had more eternal values, such as integration and spirituality, aiming to unify the two opposing forces through his work. Until 29 March 1998.

Venue: Crafts Council, 44a Pentonville Road, London N1.

Inspired by the elements and the environment, the work of potters Adrian Davies and Rebecca Taylor is contrasting in both style and method. Davies uses the potter’s wheel to create functional, tactile bowls, pots and pods while Taylor moulds large sculptural pieces such as sconces and torsos. Until 15 December.

Venue: Unit 1.05, Oxo Tower Wharf, Bargehouse Street, London SE1.
