… but will those Mancunian hacks give it a chance?

It was nice to read that two of your guest contributors chose work by the wonderful Thomas Heatherwick for their favourite pieces of public art (Voxpop, DW 27 November).

Not so nice is the shoddy treatment given by the Mancunian press to Heatherwick’s B of the Bang sculpture. The Manchester Evening News has done nothing but bitch about the piece since its inception.

Of course, now that a couple of pointy bits have become loose the newspaper has been baying for Heatherwick’s blood, and have now got it. Perhaps they should be writing a piece on dodgy Mancunian welders.
