Wolff Olins boards Lisbon rail network

Construction on Lisbon Metro’s new line and the expansion of the existing rail network are underway with two- and three-dimensional design by Wolff Olins.

The group has created illuminated symbols identifying stations at street level, ticket sales booths, ticket machines, barriers, platform furniture and a customer information system, as well as the corporate identity for Metropolitano de Lisboa, the Metro logo, maps, literature and signage.

The prototype station is currently being renovated, and the designs will be rolled out through the existing 25 stations and new stations for the new line, which will take visitors to the Expo 98 site. The network will be expanded to 76 stations by the year 2010.
