Microsoft has yet to appoint a packaging design consultancy for the global launch of its games console Xbox, which was unveiled this week.
Xbox is a competitor to Sony’s PlayStation2, Sega’s much anticipated new console and the Nintendo Gamecube. It will launch in the US and Japan towards the end of the year and Europe during the first quarter of next year.
Xbox has been designed in-house by Microsoft and branded by a US consultancy. Microsoft was unable to confirm which. However, Xbox is still some months away from becoming a finished product.
More than 200 games companies are said to be developing titles for the console, which will offer four game controller ports and the opportunity for players to connect voice-activated headsets to the units.
