Newell and Sorrell forges link

Graphics consultancy Newell and Sorrell and architect Fletcher Priest are linking in “a strategic alliance” designed to cement their collaboration on joint projects.

Described by a Newell and Sorrell spokeswoman as “an arm’s length marriage of convenience”, the alliance is intended to boost each consultancy’s work abroad.

Newell and Sorrell has offices in Amsterdam and Fletcher Priest has a five-strong presence in Cologne. The alliance will see each consultancy recommend the other to its clients.

Newell and Sorrell and Fletcher Priest are currently working on a joint commission, says the spokeswoman, but all details of the international project are under wraps.

The spokeswoman scotches suggestions of a fuller merger to follow: “We are both very comfortable where we both retain our independence.”

Newell and Sorrell’s existing environment team, led by Neil Cavagan, will continue as before.

The spokeswoman adds that Fletcher Priest’s architectural skills will complement rather than duplicate Newell and Sorrell’s environment offer.
