Harvey Nicks revamps restaurant

Lifschutz Davidson starts work next week on the revamp of Harvey Nichols’ 5th Floor restaurant, the first redesign of the retailer’s flagship eaterie in more than ten years.

The work, which involves a complete rebuild of the restaurant, is a move away from ‘restaurant as an experience’ towards a more ‘dining room’-style approach, according to Lifschutz Davidson director Paul Sandilands.

‘[Harvey Nichols] considered refurbishing the restaurant, but decided they wanted to take a giant leap forward so we’re rebuilding the whole 5th Floor offer,’ he adds.

Lighting is a feature of the design, says Sandilands, and Equation Lighting Design is working with Lifschutz Davidson on this element of the project. The restaurant will have a glass-domed ceiling and lighting will mimic changing levels of natural daylight.

The new interior is due to be unveiled in early October.
