New rechargeable solar lantern for the developing world

Creactive Design and Intermediate Technology Consultants have created a rechargeable solar lantern, designed to provide a cost-effective light source for people in the developing world who have no access to electricity.

The Glowstar Lantern provides ten times the light output of a kerosene lamp and five hours of light when fully charged. It is charged during the day via a solar panel. Manufacturer Sollatek UK is starting pilot production this month.
