Exhibitions

2D>3D Design for Theatre and Performance brings together the work of more than 70 artists, including costumes, props and photographs of a variety of finished productions from theatre, ballet and opera. The exhibition runs from 13 March until 9 May.

Venue: Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery, Castle Street, Carlisle CA3 8TP.

Coinciding with the 150th anniversary of its completion, Crystal Palace at Sydenham, until 18 April, shows contemporary paintings, plaster casts, photographs and engravings, recreating a visit to the palace and its gardens.

Venue: Dulwich Picture Gallery, Gallery Road, London SE21.

Smiling at Shadows, until 25 April, features work by Susan Basham that was inspired by a trip to Venice. The exhibition includes both hand-built porcelain forms and tapestries made of silk thread.

The first UK exhibition by South African photographer Stephen Inggs runs from 12 March to 4 May. It showcases his work in Rhopography, the study of trivial objects and small wares.

Venue: Hackelbury, 4 Launceston Place, London W8.

Until 13 June Designer of the Year showcases the work of multi-media designer Daniel Brown, product designer Sam Buxton, lighting designer Paul Cocksedge and football boot designer Craig Johnston, one of whom will win the £25 000 prize.
