Twig website set up to list sustainable print products

A website to help designers source sustainable paper and print products has been launched in the UK.

Called Twig, www.twig.uk. com, it has been created by freelance graphic designer Caroline Clark and David Shorto, print- and paper-buyer for Friends of the Earth and Greenpeace.

It aims at dispelling some of the myths of sustainability in the paper industry, as well as providing a one-stop shop for designers to source materials. ‘There is a lot of interest in the industry in choosing environmentally-friendly products, but designers are busy people and there are lots of conflicting messages out there,’ Clark says. ‘Designers need something that helps them choose.’

After extensive research into the print and paper industries, Clark and Shorto have collated a range of paper products that have been certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council and printers whose environmental credentials have been verified.
