Bisset Adams to turn Idea brand into reality

Bisset Adams has been appointed to develop the brand identity and conceptual framework for Tower Hamlets’ new library concepts, known as Idea stores.

The scheme to replace and “reinvent” existing libraries in the London Borough calls for Bisset Adams to develop the identity and test initial design concepts for the project.

As well as library facilities, Idea stores will encompass exhibition spaces, retail and café areas, and adult education facilities, all under one roof.

The consultancy has recently undertaken its own research into new approaches to environments for learning. Bisset Adams partner Roger Adams says that educational establishments can start making improvements by reshaping along the lines of contemporary retail designs.

“Most new research indicates that the type of accessibility offered by successful retail environments is what’s required in educational environments, whether it’s to reverse failing schools or to increase the take up of adult education courses. It’s important for educational institutions to get away from the perception of being both daunting and intimidating,” he explains.
