Amanda Lake continues her monthly selection of graphics projects which feature striking illustration and photography.

Photographer George Kavanagh shot the images for the Corange 1996 annual report designed by Still Waters Run Deep. Corange is a human healthcare and medical research company. Talin Carroll, head of design at Still Waters Run Deep, commissioned Kavanagh mainly because she had worked with him in the past and is very familiar with his portfolio. ‘He is very good at producing a whole job, from choosing the models to the styling of the image. He doesn’t only click the camera,’ she adds.

Gary Neill illustrated a short story for the summer/autumn issue of Waterstone’s magazine W, designed by Newell and Sorrell. Rob Andrews, designer at Newell and Sorrell, commissioned Neill because of ‘the energy and enthusiasm of Neill’s work’. Andrews says: ‘He never takes an image straight from the text and this adds something to the story, which is nice.’

Jake Abrams illustrated the Making a Difference to London brochure designed by Saatchi and Saatchi Design. Abrams was asked to create an illustration that would spark interest in a multicultural youth-oriented arts event for Trafalgar Square 2000. Saatchi account director Alec Rattray’s aim was to inject ‘colour, fun, life and vitality’ into the project.
