Interiors and graphics consultancy Hodgkinson & Co has redesigned the interiors for Eastern-influenced clothing and soft furnishings retailer, Chandni Chowk, which launches this week.

Hodgkinson & Co was recommended to the company without a pitch. It has created interiors concepts for a Bath-based Chandni store which, if successful, will form the basis of a roll-out to its four West Country sites, including Bristol and Exeter.

The interiors are designed to allow the clothes to take centre-stage, and feature a neutral colour palette to contrast with the colourful ethnic products, says Hodgkinson & Co managing director Andrew Hodgkinson.

“The new interiors are contemporary, with Eastern overtones,” he adds. “The concepts are designed to help Chandni Chowk appeal to a Western audience and lend it a more coherent identity, which was lacking.”

The in-store work features design work inspired by Indian culture, he says, including ethnic fretwork and patterns to set off the products.
