Jestico & Whiles is designing the interiors for the Baker Street branch of London pizza restaurant Eco, following the departure of the project’s original designer.

The opening of the restaurant has been delayed for several months owing to the resignation of designer Anand Zenz, who was responsible for the first, much celebrated, Eco restaurant in London’s Clapham.

Jestico & Whiles won the project two months ago on the strength of its work on Wagamama founder Alan Yau’s latest restaurant, Hakkasan. The new design is now scheduled to be opened in early June.

Jestico & Whiles project architect Mark Webb says, “The original Eco restaurant was very DIY-looking, with lots of plywood and twisted metal. The concept behind our design was to create a theatrical space. The main feature of the restaurant will be three woven-veneer baskets within which the main restaurant area is situated. This acts as an insertion into the existing building, a bit like a stage set.”
