Visiting clients must be taken seriously

I am writing with regard to your recent article Checking in with the high-flyers (Design Business, DW 23 March).

For us, travelling is simply a way of life, being one of the only truly European retail design consultancies. Ken Corsie, Stuart Naysmith, Stephen Cribbett and myself are abroad for a minimum of 60 days a year each.

Interbrand strategic director Graham Hales simply says, “It shows dedication if you turn up.” I hope this is a quote taken out of context, as, if you are not in the business of servicing your clients seriously, then you should not be making the journey.

The advantages of working abroad far outweigh the disadvantages, as it is not something that happens by chance.
