Astron Group wins Scottish Executive work

The Scottish Executive has awarded a multi-million pound design and print management contract to The Astron Group, which will provide design services for the next three years.

Under the contract, Astron’s 11-strong in-house design studio will become the sole supplier of a range of services to all of the executive’s departments.

According to Astron Scotland director Frederick Pollock, the company will be responsible for corporate branding, graphic design, publications, websites and multimedia design.

The group will also generate material for non-departmental government bodies.

The contract runs from October this year for three years and was awarded to Astron following an eight-month tender process, involving ‘more than half a dozen’ shortlisted consultancies, according to Pollock.

The design element is believed to be worth a six-figure sum over the period.

Astron’s ability to create a bespoke content management system ‘caught the attention’ of the Scottish Executive, Pollock explains.

Previously, the Government employed three companies to provide a range of services and Astron ‘offered the best overall value for money’, according to a Scottish Executive statement.
