Build to brand Gary Hustwit’s feature film Urbanized

Build has been appointed to create the identity and promotional materials for the new film Urbanized by director Gary Hustwit.

Urbanized, which is currently in production and is due to premiere in 2011, will focus on the issues and strategies behind urban design and planning. The film is the final documentary in the design trilogy that included 2007’s Helvetica and 2009’s Objectified (logo pictured).

Build was appointed three weeks ago following work on the identity for Hustwit’s previous films. The consultancy originally got involved with the project after Build creative director Michael Place was interviewed for Helvetica, which explored typography, graphic design and global visual culture.

Build has been briefed to create a logo, identity and promotional material for Urbanized and will look at ways to raise funds for the film as part of the project, says Build business director Nicky Place. In 2009, Build created limited-edition screen-prints featuring the Objectified logo.
