Todd to leave BDG/McColl?

BDG/McColl managing director Stephen Todd is believed to be leaving the consultancy. He has held the post since BDG’s merger with McColl in 1992, prior to which he was managing director of the then Business Design Group.

Todd’s departure, expected to be next March, will follow that of retail design director Graham Freeman in September and last month’s loss of creative director Andy Myring and senior associate Neil Prior. Freeman, Prior and Myring have formed a new consultancy, Metro Brands (DW 22 November).

Freeman has not yet been replaced at BDG/McColl, despite a search for a successor. Headhunters are understood to have been briefed to replace Todd.

Sources close to BDG/McColl’s parent group WPP suggest WPP has not been completely happy with BDG/McColl’s direction. But the sources claim the imminent changes at the consultancy do not represent a major upheaval.

Todd, BDG/McColl and WPP all declined to comment.
