Youth and experience: a tricky combination

I sympathise with the opinions offered by Alison Dover (Letters, DW 30 January). Having graduated in Industrial Design last year, my efforts to find employment in the design industry have resulted in a string of disappointments.

Employers want graduates with 25 years of experience but still to be at the tender age of 23.

With Tony Blair proliferating the UK’s design industry, this just seems to be an empty gesture to the hundreds of graduates with latent creative energy just waiting to be put into use. I diversified into IT support as it could be too easy to sign on and be a martyr.

So, if there is a company who could use an industrial designer with computer network experience please get in touch.
