So, do employers want computer skills or not?

I was interested to note in your Education Supplement (DW 30 May), nearly all your contributors mentioned the importance of ideas, strategic thinking, communication skills and the ability to be a team player, over the requirement for computer skills.

Turning to the appointments section, I counted 35 recruitment advertisements out of a total of 55, which requested everything from “being fluent in”, “thorough understanding of”, “being proficient in”, and “must have excellent background in computer skills”.
