Simple measures can do a great deal to control waste

In reply to your Voxpop (DW 5 June), President cheese – there’s a great example of a brand doing the right thing at the right time: giving people the choice of portioned products and resealable packs, helping them to better manage food waste at home.

This positions the brand as considerate and, at the same time, opens up a new, bigger market as premium everyday rather than just occasion-led.

The consumer food waste topic opens the door for design to play a vital role, the challenge being striking the right balance between genuine functionality and perceived overpackaging.
