Start the design debate by asking the right questions

Design consultancies were asked what issues on design should be debated by Government (Voxpop, DW 29 May).

Where to begin? How design can save the planet? How it can transform businesses and rescue the economy? How it is being taught? How designers are employed? Or maybe they should debate why UK designers are increasingly working in Russia, India, Dubai or China?

If they want to harness the power of design for a better future, the Government needs to debate and understand the value of a design-led renaissance in the UK and eliminate the straightjacket that is restricting it.
