A question of pants?

My thanks to Tim Rich for “coming out” (Private View, DW 6 March). I feel I must join him, being a similar age. I too do not remember being particularly concerned about the make of my underpants during my school days – surely it’s what is in them that counts!

And what is it about men and machinery? Is it exclusively a male thing or do women lust after beautifully designed machines?

I have just bought a new motorbike – why? It’s uncomfortable (unless you’re Italian), cold (unless you’re a bear) and dangerous (if you listen to my mother), but it’s drop-dead gorgeous. Am I hoping for some reflected beauty?

Always remember, it’s not what you’ve got, it’s what you do with it that counts. Right, I’m off to the Alps on my bike, in my Dianese jacket, Daytona boots and Arai helmet – anyone coming?
