Graphic design consultancy Blast has created the packaging for Boots The Chemists Christmas Shop, which includes cards, crackers, lights, decorations and wrapping paper.
The packaging features a star, the same icon used for Boots’ Thomas Heatherwick-designed in-store Christmas displays (DW 29 September). To distinguish between the store’s three ranges – standard, luxury and premium – Blast has colour-coded the products: blue for standard, gold for luxury and silver for premium. It has also clarified the product information, enhanced by easier-to-read typography, so consumers know exactly what they are spending their money on.
‘The packaging provides consistency to Boots’ complete Christmas output, particularly with the recognisable star icon,’ says Blast partner Colin Gifford.
Boots is also working with the charity Breast Cancer Care to design and produce POS material to support its October fundraising campaign. This is designed by Boots’ in-house design team, led by Reggie Pugh.
