Smollensky’s strikes a Raw deal on roll-out

Smollensky’s, the London restaurant chain owned by the Mezzanine Group, is to be rolled out across the capital with an extra 20 sites planned over the next two years.

Raw Design, the Birmingham-based interior design consultancy, has been approached to carry out work on the new sites. Founder Matt Rawlinson says the restaurants will be given a more modern look, moving away from the traditional feel of the Strand site. ‘There is a format we’re working to but it is adaptable, depending on the history of the building we’re working on,’ he says. Three branches are to be completed by February, adding to the two existing restaurants, while three more are anticipated by May.

Marios George, chief executive of the Mezzanine Group, says the decision to expand was due to the continuing success of its Strand site. He adds, ‘All restaurants will have a similar feel, but with their own individual presence and there will be no changes to the brand, which has huge appeal.’
