Event to create Bristol Museum

The Museum of Bristol, formerly the Bristol Industrial Museum, has appointed Event Communications to masterplan the exhibition design and branding of the redeveloped museum.

A second-stage pitch will be held next March to appoint a design consultancy to implement the design recommendations put forward by Event. As part of the initial brief, Event will look at ways of developing interpretation and interactivity facilities for the museum.

The social history museum, scheduled to open in 2009, will tell the story of Bristol, emphasising its role as one of the UK’s major seaports. The museum is housed in the historic cargo sheds, home to the Bristol Industrial Museum.

The Museum of Bristol was awarded a £10.7m Heritage Lottery Fund grant to help renovate the site (DW 3 August 2006). The architect is Lab.
