‘Sniffy disdain’ masks a deep technophobia

I thought that, by now, the previously prevalent supercilious

attitude towards working with computers in design might have virtually disappeared (or is this only virtual reality?).

However, if the letter “CAD wannabes are building in number” (DW 2 August) is anything to go by, the old problem still remains. I have known designers who are very capable with traditional methods which they are used to, but who conceal their technophobia behind a sniffy disdain or even contemptuous regard for CAD systems and those designers who display any sort of natural ability with them.
