Have two identities? But not two for the price of one

I feel the need to write and compliment Quentin Newark on his wonderful and insightful feature on football club badges, Defensive Shield (DW 29 August).

I particularly liked the suggestion that Manchester United develop two separate identities. What a brilliant idea.

If only we could persuade all our clients that they need two identities. And just think of all that additional work.

Newark’s other suggestion to base this new identity on an ‘anatomically correct’ devil is also equally inspired, exactly the sort of positive image football needs to project.
