BBC2 series to tackle design

A new TV series is to examine design as it applies to people’s lives. The programme is presented and written by Graven Images co-founder Professor Janice Kirkpatrick.

Designing Our Lives starts on 8 May on BBC2. The series will explore design as applied to the body, the patent, the home, the wheel, the word and the chair.

Kirkpatrick says: “This new series tackles design as it really applies to people’s lives. It explains why the man-made world is the shape it is, who made this and why and what shape tomorrow’s world will be.”

Appearing on the show will be vacuum cleaner designer/ entrepreneur James Dyson, explaining how patents allow ideas to be owned, and World Wide Web creator, Tim Berners Lee.
