Lewis Moberley is to redesign the identity for the world’s most widely distributed wine brand, Mateus. It is due to relaunch later in the year.
The UK consultancy was appointed by Portuguese wine producer Vinhos Sogrape, after beating Design Bridge and Italian group De Robillant in a pitch.
Lewis Moberley creative director Mary Lewis says the group’s challenge is to “take the brand forward by building on its impressive past. Mateus is an extraordinary brand with decades of loyalty… The famous palace icon label and rotund bottle have changed little since 1942, but many of the values it represented are still relevant.”
