London Eye architect announces observation mast plans

The architect behind the London Eye, Marks Barfield, has announced plans to design an observation mast on the site of Brighton’s West Pier. The aerodynamic viewing pod, called i360, will soar 150m above sea level, carrying up to 100 visitors at any one time. It will have a slender and unobtrusive form. The i360 is expected to be built by 2008, if planning permission is obtained.
