Brighton gets French-style bakery

Quarto Design has created the identity and interiors for Philippe de France, a new patisserie which opened earlier this month in Brighton.

Owned by French entrepreneur Philippe Demier, the outlet may develop into a chain. Interiors are in a modern French style, says Quarto managing director Tony Huggett. The mosaic theme from the identity is carried on through the shop and its small eating area.

mThe Arts Council has made a 15m Lottery-funded award to the Brighton Festival Society for the three-stage refurbishment of the Brighton Dome. Architect RHWL is working on structural elements, and on interior designs for performance areas, foyers, a café and a museum shop within the building. The museum exhibition spaces are being designed by Jasper Jacob Associates.
