The Design Council is scrapping Design in Education Week.

The annual initiative, which boasted about 100 regional events, is being replaced with Designers into Schools.

The pilot scheme will take place from 24-28 June 2002 and is targeted at secondary school pupils.

Designers into Schools aims to get 100 designers into 100 schools nationwide through workshops.

The event will be assessed by the Department for Education and Skills design and technology strategy group.

Design Council development manager for education Kate Williamson says, ‘Ultimately, I would like every design and technology department in the country to have links with designers.’
