LT examines design study

London Transport is assessing the confidential recommendations of a study into LT’s design policies by the two-year-old consultancy Strategic Retail Identity.

SRI, formed by Peter Zentner and Robert Heller, was commissioned to do the study by LT head of design Jeremy Rewse-Davies and marketing director Norman Cohen.

The study included canvassing opinion from external designers and architects and from within LT. The subsequent report was completed last month.

Rewse-Davies says: “We can’t share the conclusions – it is for internal use only. It was felt we needed to look at what we were doing in a changed organisation and benchmark our systems.” The report’s recommendations “are being assessed”, he adds.

Rewse-Davies says the cut in Government funding for LT announced at the end of last year has not yet had a direct impact on any LT design projects. “But we are endlessly reworking budgets,” he says.
