High-octane animations, inspired by computer games like Daytona, drive Addiction’s promo for breakbeat star MJ Cole’s latest single Wonderin’ Why. Designed by Addiction director Lisa Lloyd and animator Paul Tuersley, the sequence switches from day to night as the cars – modified in After Effects by 3D designer Andy Guest – race through cities, deserts and mountain passes. ‘After listening to the lyrics, it seemed that the story was of unrequited love and that the race should be based on a love triangle, with MJ Cole in the middle,’ says Lloyd. Released by Talkin’ Loud, the CD is out on 17 March.
The visual system created by SomeOne is based on movement patterns of birds gliding on thermal columns, which allow them to travel long distances with ease.
