Many of us were sad to read about the death of graphic designer David Brend (News, DW 16 December 2004).
David had worked with most, if not all, of the key players in the very competitive international property marketing sector and was highly respected by clients and designers alike.
His uncompromising dedication to finding the best solutions was legendary and kept many a design studio on its toes over the years. He worked incredibly hard, had a huge resource of knowledge and an infectious wit.
The results spoke for themselves and I was pleased, even as a friendly competitor, to see him collect nine design awards in a single evening on one occasion.
David was an inspiration to many of us to push harder and further in our search for that elusive ‘complete’ solution. Working with him was the launch pad of many a career.
His influence is certainly going to be missed by many people.
