Students of the year win prizes

Central St Martin’s college of Art & Design student Marion Reilly has been picked as Student of the Year at the British Design and Art Direction Student Awards.

Central St Martin’s college of Art & Design student Marion Reilly has been picked as Student of the Year at the British Design and Art Direction Student Awards. Her illustrations for book store Waterstone’s also won the Illustration category.

Reilly beat other category winners, including mixed media winner Luke Sargent of the University of Central England in Birmingham, product design for the environment winner Alex Lampe of Surrey Institute of Art & Design University College, and corporate identity victors Samuel Chesterman and Elliott Crowe-Swords, also of Surrey Institute.

Meanwhile, Tim Burke of Parnham College has taken the furniture design in solid wood category of New Designers 2000. Fellow winners include Angelika Seeschaas, for the best use of rubber in design and Nick Evans from de Montfort University, who scooped the James Dyson Product Design Award.
