Teachers feel betrayed by the green paper proposals

Your recent Vox Pox on the Government’s proposal to drop design and technology as a compulsory school subject (DW 30 May) really gave great support to grass roots design and technology teachers, who feel betrayed by this proposal.

The design route through education motivates children empowering them as managers of their own learning.

James Dyson has taken on board the importance of the subject to children of the 21st century; capability to create by using research and development is the core of all projects. The green paper is a backward step. The decision is more about resources of people and equipment – investment is needed in our schools.

We need designer’s support to maintain what is the best part of the national curriculum.
