Halifax invests in new retail branch concept

Building society Halifax has appointed RPA Europe to create a new retail branch concept, aimed at taking the institution into the next millennium and to its new incarnation as a full financial services provider. RPA won a six-way credentials pitch.

The concept will attempt to move Halifax away from the traditional bank and building society style and towards a focused retail approach, with a strong emphasis on customer service.

Following its flotation, Halifax will become the fifth largest bank in the UK, and intends to strengthen its high street presence and communication.

RPA chairman Gerry Postlethwaite says a prototype is likely to open before the end of the year.
