Nexus is one of the classiest brands of erotic fiction apparently, specialising in CP literature (that’s corporal punishment, in case you didn’t know).

To ensure its readers get what they’re looking for, the Virgin Books’ imprint (surely some kinda contradiction there) has introduced a handy system of icons to denote its content. From corporal punishment (traditional) – horsehair and birches perhaps? – to corporal punishment (modern) – wire mesh and electrodes? – via spanking, captivity and, er, medical, there’s something for everyone.

In-house designer Anna Martin is mistress of the logos – and she’s also created a ‘sexy shiny black button’ for a corporate marque. Her mum must be proud.
