Whirlpool Europe has unveiled its Green kitchen concept, based on sustainable principles. Devised by head of global consumer design at Whirlpool Alessandro Finetto and an in-house team, it features high-efficiency appliances, and a co-generation domestic electricity system that can produce hot water and electricity simultaneously. Key design features include heat generated by the fridge compressor which can be used to produce hot water for the dishwasher, while sensors measure the level of soil in the water, allowing clean water to be diverted and reused.
