A Number of design sector initiatives are underway to raise money for Kosovo refugees, including an evening event and a book of photography.

The Partners came up with the idea for a Kosovo Disaster Emergency Committee fundraiser to be held on 3 June. The team behind the Bladdered by Fax series of industry gatherings is helping with the organisation.

Participants to date include Real Time Studio, Pentagram, Addison, Interbrand Newell and Sorrell, Saatchi & Saatchi Design, Photodisc and Wamnet. Sound Republic in central London will be the venue.

All proceeds from 6 tickets, plus 10 per cent of bar takings on the night, will go to the Kosovo appeal.

“We are still trying to secure a celebrity and an industry spokesperson to front the event,” says Christina Boyes of The Partners, who is heading up the fundraising initiative. Boyes can be contacted by e-mail on: christina@partnersdesign.co.uk.

“This one is very much a design-led event from people who would like to do something and have fun at the same time,” says Real Time Studio managing director Phil Jones.

Meanwhile, a book of photography taken in Yugoslavia by Network Photographers is being printed to raise money for the Kosovo charities.

The Media Trust is also in talks with the charity Refugee Action, to assist the relocation of Albanian refugees to the UK. So far no firm action has been agreed.
