Shoot the Moon scores with logo

Shoot the Moon has created the branding for the Football League’s prestigious 100th Championships season.

The centenary celebrations start tonight with an Evening of Legends at the London Hilton. The occasion will feature a host of past and present sporting stars, including Sir Stanley Matthews, Sir Geoff Hurst, Glen Hoddle and Paul Gascoigne.

Festivities will then continue over coming months with several events, including the 100th Championship Challenge match featuring Sunderland and Liverpool. Items including clothing, boots, bags and chequebooks will also be endorsed within the centenary brand.

Shoot the Moon creative director Oliver Zebedee says the identity was created to be “instantly recognisable, but also reflect the tradition of the Football League”.

Football League marketing director Brian Phillpotts says: “It was essential to create an identity to sit comfortably alongside our existing brand image, evoking history, tradition and integrity, while also creating a contemporary feel to represent the vibrant images of the modern game.”
