Blast recruits packaging experts

Blast this week announces the appointments of two senior creatives, as the London group moves to expand its packaging offer.

Associate director Christian Eves joins from Dew Gibbons, where he was a senior designer. Paul Tunnicliffe, also an associate director, was formerly a freelance designer working with GBH, Hat-trick and SAS.

‘Our focus has traditionally been on print and Web design, and we haven’t pushed packaging as a major area of the company,’ explains Blast founding director Colin Gifford.

‘The idea is that Paul and Christian, with their considerable experience in packaging, will take on building that part of the business,’ he adds.

Gifford says Blast will continue to pursue print and identity work, in which Eves and Tunnicliffe will also play an instrumental role.

The restructuring comes nearly a year after founding director Martin Cox’s departure and will also see the appointments of two junior creatives in the near future.

Eves and Tunnicliffe are ultimately expected to become partners in the company.
