Architectural historian Charles McKean considers how people’s perceptions of Glasgow are formed by its architecture in the first lecture, Glasgow’s Grandeur – Dressing Up for Show on 20 November, at the Caledonian University, Glasgow.

International Symposium on Ecstatic Space at the Royal Academy of Arts raises the question of how far the accentuation of the sensual and the sensational can legitimise an architectural work. Speakers include Ron Arad and Nigel Coates, with Paola Portoghesi introducing the event by discussing the historical background of the psychology of space, on 17 November.
